Delivery

Single Malts Direct only sell alcoholic products to adults over the age of 18 in the UK. When placing an order, you must confirm that you are at least 18 years of age (or the minimum legal age for purchasing alcohol in your country of residence eg: 21).


We use Sagepay to process credit card payments and accept the following payment methods:

PLEASE NOTE: We do not ship to CANADA, ECUADOR or KAZAKHSTAN

USA - Please note, the shipping charges includes the FDA charge and a signature charge, the only additional cost is the US duty which is calculated on the size of bottle and % ABV at the checkout stage (e.g. 70cl bottle @ 40% ABV = £1.33 but fluctuates with the exchange rate).
We cannot ship to the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Utah. Please note we cannot ship to a PO box or a military base.

BRAZIL and RUSSIA - Please note, customers ordering from, Russia or Brazil do so at their own risk. For Russia we can ONLY ship to a business address and you WILL be liable to pay import duties to Russian customs. The Customs may seize the goods or consignment and they may be destroyed. In the event of this happening, Single Malts Direct cannot be held responsible and therefore no refund can or will be given. In the instance where the goods have been returned by customs and have been damaged in any way on handling by customs or other shippers then no refund will be given. A photograph of the damaged goods along with a damage report will be furnished for your insurer. If parcels are rejected by customs they are then returned to Single Malts Direct. Once we receive that goods back, our customer is refunded in full for there goods value only. Note postal charges will not be refunded.

SWEDEN - When you select your destination country for delivery, Swedish tax of 25% will be applied to the sale instead of the 20% UK tax as we conform to Swedish rules on alcohol tax.

Our shipping rates are calculated by the weight of the products and the pricing guide below is an approximate value for a standard 70cl bottle without wooden boxes etc..

For 13 bottles or over, add the amount of shipping costs together. For example, if you are buying 17 bottles then you should add the shipping cost of 12 bottles to the cost of 5 bottles. This then gives you the cost of shipping 17 bottles.

ALWAYS ALLOW A FEW DAYS FLEXIBILITY ON DELIVERY AS DELAY CAN BE CAUSED BY FACTORS OUTWITH THE CONTROL OF OUR COURIERS. IF YOU FEEL THAT IT HAS TAKEN LONGER THAN EXPECTED THEN PLEASE EMAIL US AT enquiries@singlemaltsdirect.com


Please order before 10.30am to guarantee despatch on that day, any orders placed after 11.30am will be despatched the following day.

Delivery times come into force when the order is despatched and not from when the order is placed. Recipients will receive an email informing them that the order has been despatched, expected delivery dates follow on from there. Deliveries in the UK are 3-5 days via Standard Delivery (please note this is our standard delivery time but may take up to 28 days.) If you require express delivery, please contact us. Single Malts Direct cannot be held liable for delayed deliveries. Both Single Malts Direct and its logistics provider (our couriers) take every precaution to ensure prompt delivery. Please note that our couriers consider a successful delivery if the consignment reaches your door irrespective if you are not at home to accept delivery.

Friday despatches may arrive on a Saturday, but cannot be guaranteed. No deliveries can be made on a Sunday. A normal 48 hour delivery takes two working days to deliver.

A unique identification number will be provided by e-mail when your order is despatched to allow you to check the status of your delivery at any time via the Parcel Force Worldwide or Fed Ex online tracking service.

Average Weights per standard tall round bottle. Please note that heavier bottles and boxes will incur a higher charge unless we offer a flat rate to your destination country:

The postal prices are given in UK pounds sterling exclusive of VAT. VAT of 20.00% is charged on all orders shipped to European Union (EU) countries

CUSTOMS

Please note that although we ship products to many countries around the world, certain countries have restrictions regarding the supply of products containing alcohol. Your order maybe subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in your chosen country which are levied at the time the package clears customs. All additional charges are entirely the responsibility of the recipient. Customs policies are different in many countries, Single Malts Direct has no control over these charges so you should contact your local customs office for further information. For this reason, we despatch goods to some countries entirely at the risk of the customer and, although we maintain proof of shipment from our carrier (Parcel Force or Fed Ex) and provide a tracking number by e-mail for each shipment, we unfortunately, cannot guarantee delivery. It is the customer’s responsibility to insure any products they purchase against accidental damage or breakage during shipment. Customs may impound the goods or open for inspection and thus may delay delivery to you. The goods may also be tarnished or damaged during this process. In the event of delayed delivery due to customs intervention, Single Malts Direct cannot be held responsible for any damage incurred. Please check all goods carefully on receipt for damage or breakage. It is important that any problems are documented when signing for your package(s) on receipt. This will aid any relevant insurance claim.

Back Orders

If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait. Occasionally due to popularity of various items and new releases the goods sell out within a very short period and your order is out of stock, we will do everything in our power to ensure that your order is treated with highest priority and goods are despatched when next available (usually within a few days)

Tax Charges

All orders for delivery in the UK or the European Union, attract VAT of 20.00%. All orders out with UK and the European Union are VAT free and therefore you should click the exempt button option to reduce VAT to zero.

Credit Card Security

All credit card numbers are encrypted in the software when the order is placed using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site.

Guarantee

We guarantee your satisfaction. Any complaints will be promptly dealt with by our Customer Service Team. Please check all goods carefully on receipt for damage or breakage. It is important that any problems are documented when signing for your package(s) on receipt. This will aid any relevant insurance claim. Any complaints should be directed to customerservice@singlemaltsdirect.com.

Returns Policy

If you are unhappy with a product, for a reason other than damage, please inform us within 7 days and arrange for the product to be returned to us in good condition in its original packaging. We will then reimburse you for the cost of the product (excluding delivery cost.) If the product is returned damaged no refund will be given.

Insurance

Optional insurance is available at a cost of £5 per consignment, note that the insurance covers goods lost in transit only.

Definition of damaged goods as follows

If the goods are delivered damaged do not accept them and return immediately with the shipper or delivery company. The goods must not be signed for and they must be clearly marked on the manifest as undeliverable due to damage. This will be clearly noticeable by damaged or wet packaging or packaging where sealing tape or coverings are cut or the contents exposed. If you have signed for those goods and they are damaged internally without breakage then we must be informed immediately and the goods returned to Single Malts Direct. Any open bottles or CD’s / DVD’s where the sealing film is cut are non returnable. No refund is given.
