Blended Whiskies

A blended whisky ingredient consists of many single malts and grain whiskies being blended together in a cask - this process takes place after each whisky has been matured to the appropriate age. Furthermore, single malt whiskies which are made from malted grain such as barley or rye are mixed together with other grain whiskies such as wheat and maize (corn); in doing so the harsher tones of the single-malts are dampened by the grain whiskies producing a fine balanced blended whisky.
