10 Year Old Original Cask Strength Laphroaig whisky is an Islay single malt bottled at natural distillery strength. The whisky’s rich flavours come through as never before because the whisky has not been chill-filtered. This gives a depth of genuine taste and texture normally associated with sampling a whisky at its source.

We mature Laphroaig whisky in seasoned oak barrels and this imbues the whisky with the heart and strength of the wood. These barrels are charred before filling to impart the slight sweet vanilla nuttiness of the oak. Original Cask Strength Laphroaig is barrier-filtered only to remove the small char particles that are present, but this filtering does not change or lessen the flavour in any way. In extremes of temperature it may appear a little cloudy – this is the condition of a malt of such peaty pungence and uncompromising purity.

Product Description

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Robust. Scented candles, cough medicine, hospitals, peat bog, kipper, always a cereal note.

Palate: Immediate peat and cereal mixing (with water) a light fruity note with a peatiness which clings to the palate. Still tarry and deep.

Finish: Light pepper, oatcake and, finally, lingering smoke.
