Millburn distillery was one of the casualties of the 1980’s. Its surroundings could have sealed its fate as there was no room to expand and as large-scale industrial distilleries were being built in the 1970s and 1980s Millburn was too small to survive. It is situated on the outskirts of Inverness and it was the oldest and last distillery to close in Inverness. It suffered a large fire in 1922 with large-scale damage to the distillery but surprisingly was rebuilt the same year. The distilling equipment was removed from Millburn in 1988 and the buildings were re-used as a Beefeater restaurant and have since changed to a restaurant named ‘Slice’.
