Built in 1995 at the Lochranza village, on the north of Arran, one of the most beautiful places in Scotland. Early in the 19th century there were more than 50 whisky distillers on Arran, most of which were illegal. The distillery, founded by Harold Currie, is of a modern design but uses traditional methods of distilling, with wooden washbacks and copper stills. Loch Na Davie provides clean, peaty water to the distillery. The distillery visitor centre is open from March to October and is highly commended by the Scottish tourist board.
