Glenglassaugh has had a stop-start lifespan with large periods of closure and short burst of production. It went through a substantial reconstruction from 1957 to 1959 and produced steady malt for the blending industry for 26 years until 1986 when it was mothballed. As over 20 years have passed since it was mothballed and there is no word of it re-opening the future looks doubtful for Glenglassaugh.
