Situated in picturesque surroundings near the town of Alness on the Cromarty Firth, Dalmore is one of the most attractive distilleries in Scotland. The name Dalmore can be translated to “big meadowland” from the Norse language and it’s easy to see why it was given that name. Interesting events that have happened in its history are when the Royal Navy had used the buildings for the manufacture of mines in 1917. They moved out three years later leaving behind a partly damaged distillery caused by an explosion. Dalmore is the flagship distillery of Whyte and Mackay and is used in their Whyte and Mackay and Claymore blends.
