Making A Purchase.

SMD only sell alcohol products to those over the age of 18. By placing an order, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age or the minimum legal age for purchasing alcohol in your country of residence eg: 21.

Our rates of exchange are set each day by our payment provider, Worldpay, and are updated every 24 hours at 00.05am UK time.

Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse through our on-line shop, click on any items that you wish to buy and place them into the shopping basket. After you have finished your selection, click on "Checkout" and you will be asked for a few details that we require to process your order. We accept online credit card payment. If you are shopping from outside the UK, please simply follow the standard process to place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction into your own local currency.

We accept, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Solo, JCB and Maestro payments through our secure payment gateway Worldpay. If you do not wish to provide your credit card details “online”, you may also send your card information by telephone, fax or regular mail. Please have your order details available when you contact us.

Our own range of independent bottlings are matured and bottled in Scotland by Single Malts Direct from casks containing spirit produced at the Distillery. The spirit is different from the Distillers bottled product.

SWEDEN

To enable all purchases into Sweden to be delivered we have to conform to Swedish rules on alcohol tax. As such all purchases into Sweden must be made in Swedish Krona and are subject to Swedish alcohol duty which we apply at the time of your purchase. To purchase in Swedish Krona simply click on the Swedish flag situated on the top right hand corner of our home page. You will not be able to purchase goods to be delivered to Sweden in any other currency.

CANADA

PLEASE BE AWARE: Customers ordering from Canada do so at their own risk.  Canadian Customs may seize the goods or consignment and they may be destroyed. In the event of this happening, Single Malts Direct cannot be held responsible and therefore no refund can or will be given. In the instance where the goods have been returned by customs and have been damaged in any way on handling by customs or other shippers then no refund will be given. A photograph of the damaged goods along with a damage report will be furnished for your insurer. Note postal charges will not be refunded.

Please order before 11.30am to guarantee despatch on that day, any orders placed after 11.30am will be despatched the following day. 

Delivery times come into force when the order is despatched and not from when the order is placed. Recipients will receive an email informing them that the order has been despatched, expected delivery dates follow on from there.  Deliveries in the UK generally take 3 working days or add 2 if over the weekend. Single Malts Direct cannot be held liable for delayed deliveries. Both Single Malts Direct and its logistics provider Royal Mail Parcel Force Worldwide take every precaution to ensure prompt delivery. Please note that Parcel Force Worldwide consider a successful delivery if the consignment reaches your door irrespective if you are not at home to accept delivery.

Thursday and Friday despatches will not arrive on a Saturday or Sunday. A normal 48 hour delivery takes two working days to deliver and will be received on the following Tuesday after the Friday despatch, 24 hour deliveries take one working day to deliver and will arrive the following Monday after the Friday despatch.

The prices above are given in UK pounds sterling. VAT of 17.50% is charged on all orders shipped to European Union (EU) countries.

A unique identification number will be provided by e-mail when your order is despatched to allow you to check the status of your delivery at any time via the Parcel Force Worldwide online tracking service.

Please contact us if you wish to check the delivery regulations/status regarding the country in which you are located prior to placing your order.

CUSTOMS

Please note that although we ship products to many countries around the world, certain countries have restrictions regarding the supply of products containing alcohol. For this reason, we despatch goods to some countries entirely at the risk of the customer and, although we maintain proof of shipment from our carrier (Royal Mail Parcel Force) and provide a tracking number by e-mail for each shipment, we unfortunately, cannot guarantee delivery. It is the customer’s responsibility to insure any products they purchase against accidental damage or breakage during shipment. Customs may impound the goods or open for inspection and thus may delay delivery to you. The goods may also be tarnished or damaged during this process. In the event of delayed delivery due to customs intervention, Single Malts Direct cannot be held responsible for any damage incurred. Please check all goods carefully on receipt for damage or breakage. It is important that any problems are documented when signing for your package(s) on receipt. This will aid any relevant insurance claim.

Back Orders

If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait. Occasionally due to popularity of various items and new releases the goods sell out within a very short period and your order is out of stock, we will do everything in our power to ensure that your order is treated with highest priority and goods are despatched when next available (usually within a few days) 

Tax Charges 

All orders for delivery in the UK or the European Union, attract VAT of 17.50%. All orders out with UK and the European Union are VAT free and therefore you should click the exempt button option to reduce VAT to zero.

Credit Card Security

All credit card numbers are encrypted in the software when the order is placed using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site.

Guarantee

We guarantee your satisfaction. Any complaints will be promptly dealt with by our Customer Service Team. Please check all goods carefully on receipt for damage or breakage. It is important that any problems are documented when signing for your package(s) on receipt. This will aid any relevant insurance claim. Single Malts Direct do not disclose buyers' information to third parties. Cookies are used on this shopping site to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart once you have selected an item, to store delivery addresses if the address book is used and to store your details if you select the 'Remember Me' Option.Data collected by this site is used to:

a. Take and fulfill customer orders

b. Administer and enhance the site and service

c. Only disclose information to third-parties for goods delivery purposes 

Returns Policy

If you are unhappy with a product, for a reason other than damage, please inform us within 7 days and arrange for the product to be returned to us in good condition in its original packaging. We will then reimburse you for the cost of the product (excluding delivery cost.) If the product is returned damaged no refund will be given.

Insurance

 

Optional insurance is available at a cost of £5 per consignment, note that the insurance covers goods lost in transit only.

 

Definition of damaged goods as follows

 

If the goods are delivered damaged do not accept them and return immediately with the shipper or delivery company. The goods must not be signed for and they must be clearly marked on the manifest as undeliverable due to damage. This will be clearly noticeable by damaged or wet packaging or packaging where sealing tape or coverings are cut or the contents exposed. If you have signed for those goods and they are damaged internally without breakage then we must be informed immediately and the goods returned to Single Malts Direct. Any open bottles or CD’s / DVD’s where the sealing film is cut are non returnable. No refund is given.
