Although one of the oldest in Scotland it’s only in relatively recent years that the Ardbeg distillery has started to bottle single malts that really get people excited. Now owned by LVMH, who also own Glenmorangie, for much of it’s long life Ardbeg whisky was used for blends; what a waste.
Officially founded in 1815 illicit distilling was going on for generations prior to that date. Situated on the south eastern shore of the island of Islay, these days Ardbeg makes the bold claim of being the peatiest of the Islay single malts. It’s our opinion that the only way to verify this claim for yourself is to try all of the different Islay malts first before coming to a decision! Certainly their core expression, the Ardbeg 10 Year Old, has a phenol content of 50ppm so peat is to the fore. Ardbeg draws its water from Loch Uigeadail, this loch also lent its name to an Ardbeg bottling which was named World Whisky of the Year by Jim Murray.
To buy Ardbeg online you sometimes need to be quick. Often they release new expressions in limited bottlings and they are very popular, there are a growing number of Ardbeg whisky aficionados throughout the world. We’d recommend registering with us and we’ll happily inform you, often in advance of release, of new Ardbeg single malts.
We’re pleased to currently hold stock of the following Ardbeg bottlings:…..
Ardbeg 10 Year Old, Ardbeg 12 Year Old (1993) Connoisseurs, Ardbeg Blasda, Ardbeg Supernova, Ardbeg Uigeadail and Ardbeg Renaissance - Signed
